Metadata + Movie Posters

Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395
Player Version#: 3.67.1

Hello, I’ve noticed a few issues recently on my Plex Server. Looked around but can’t really find how to fix it:

  1. Server seems to redownload metadata randomly. Previous files that have been in the system for years are being retagged as “newly added to the system” and is bumped up to the front of unwatched queue.
  2. For certain movies, the posters do not download automatically. I’ve tried rescanning the library multiple times but same nothing happens.

I’ve updated to the newest version and it still did not fix the issues.

Thanks!

After doing some experimenting, seems like manually refreshing metadata for each one redownloads the movie posters. Don’t understand why “scan library” files does not have the same effect. So, this fixes # 2.

But, #1 above is still open.

Settings - Server - Library - ‘Empty trash automatically’ <-- DISABLE

Never enable with external or networked media storage.

Thanks. I just changed the setting. I am running media from a NAS.

Could you clarify why this should not be enabled?

This checkbox will instruct PMS to immediately remove media from the library, which have been found missing or inaccessible.
Now imagine your NAS being too slow to react (for instance because it spins down its drives) or being temporarily unavailable or some disturbance on the network.
With this checkbox set, all unavailable media are removed from Plex - and with them your carefully curated metadata…

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the quick response.
