Metadata & posters not downloading

I suffered the same inconvenience for 1 month. The version 1.4.2.3400 yesterday has not solved anything, the movies do not update with themoviedb. Everything is ok for tv show

It could be an issue with DNS, I recently added PiHole to my network and found that the dns settings on the server were pointed to an old dns server I was using. Try setting to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 manually and trying to pull metadata and posters.

It’s not it’s been a bug since 1.4.0.

Update: It looks like metadata is now downloading. I have not made any changes. Though I’m glad things are working again, I wish I new what caused the blackout or how it was resolved.

I have been having discussions and conducting experiments with the dev team.

For those of you with the problem, they would like you to clear the agent caches. This is because it appears to be working and then just sitting in the cache / not making it into your libraries.

The procedure is here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202967376-Clearing-Plugin-Channel-Agent-HTTP-Caches

I’ve been having a similar issue for the past week. I don’t have any issues with TV shows/episodes loading metadata but of the movies I’ve added in the past week only 5 have loaded the metadata. The rest don’t add anything. I find it strange that A. There is no issue with TV shows/episodes and B. Some movies load the correct metadata. I don’t run any plugins and haven’t changed any of the ways I categorize my media.

Please understand, TheTVDB, IMDB, and TMDB are all ‘plug-ins’ to PMS. They are ‘internal agents / plug-ins’.

Oh. I never thought of it like that but that makes total sense. I noticed your suggestion to clear the agent cache. My issue appears to only be related to my movies. Should I still delete all of the agent caches or just those related to movies? I was hoping for a little clarification before doing this as I’ve never done it before. Thank you!

That’s entirely up to you. There’s no harm in clearing all the caches.

Oh, okay. Just to be clear. I delete the agent caches then restart Plex? I went to the link you provided but it only mentions where to find these agent caches, but not any specifics regarding what to do afterwards. I’m going to do this process after your response and hopefully respond with a “omg it worked!”

If it doesn’t work, I know where some of the devs live >:)

So I got home yesterday and still nothing so I decided to restart and now it seems to be working. although all my previous metadata was deleted and now it is rescanning everything. It seems to be pulling everything fine so far and this morning it seems like it is back to normal.

What do you mean by restart? I tried clearing the agent caches but I’m still having the issue. I’ve restarted my computer. You simply shut Plex down and started it back up?
