Metadata questions

I just noticed multiple sets of metadata have been written to my movie collection.
Jellyfin and Plex are the only media managers I’ve been using.
I’m assuming both are writing metadata to my files.
Can anyone validate this?
Can I stop, or correct, this?
I’m submitting a similar post to the Plex forum.
Thanks.

Plex does not modify your files.

Plex stores metadata in the Plex Data Folder.

Thanks for responding. I’m relieved.

Does this include the ‘burn subtitles’ option? I set that option off in settings, but each file seems to have an individual option set to ‘automatic.’
Thanks again.

“Burn subtitles” only happens in real-time if it needs to do so. This makes a temporary copy of the movie with the subs burned in and streams this copy to the player.

This is known as transcoding.

Jellyfin will write metadata files to your media folders if you configure it to do that. Check your Jellyfin settings.

Thanks. I have Jellyfin set up to keep all data with the movie file and to use .nfo files. I checked and the nfo files are there and complete, as is the artwork.
Thanks again.
