Metadata won't update for TV shows.

Any word from the staff?

Thought I was crazy when this started happening to me yesterday. Was very frustrated because my naming conventions are in perfect shape.

Glad to come here and see it’s a widespread issue. Hopefully it’s fixed ASAP.

I’ve been having the same problem for many days as well.

Just tried to refresh metadata and it seems to work now.

##To all:

Sorry I slept in late (being Sunday and all… haha).

It looks like a regional/partial outage.

Can everyone help me by confirming:

  1. tvdb2.plex.tv is reachable
  2. api.thetvdb.com is not NXDOMAIN and is also reachable

Thanks,

  1. ā€œErrorā€: ā€œNot authorizedā€
  2. Error 522

Thanks,

Glad I’m not the only one. Thought I’d messed something up on my server last night.

I can ping api.thetvdb.com, but I cannot reach tvdb2.plex.tv

  1. reachable
  1. ā€œErrorā€: ā€œNot authorizedā€
  2. Error 522

http://tvdb2.plex.tv - ā€œErrorā€: ā€œNot authorizedā€
https://api.thetvdb.com/ - CloudFlare error 523

Location: UK

Thanks everyone.

What we know :

  1. Cloudflare is us and they’ve got that part. Timeout reaching api.thetvdb.com is the problem and they’re working with TVDB folks now
  2. Not Authorized is the correct reply when reaching to it directly from your browser

Cool. Thanks for the help and the update.

https://tvdb2.plex.tv/ => Error 522
https://api.thetvdb.com/ => ā€œErrorā€: ā€œNot authorizedā€

Strange … seems to be the other way around for me …

After several refreshes https://tvdb2.plex.tv/ now shows the ā€œErrorā€: ā€œNot authorizedā€ message and api is at Error 522.

Sorry. I was too fast there. Just realized it’s because I set Plex to fetch metadatas from The Movie Database for my TV Shows. It works as good as TVDB for now…

Am getting metadata through now (London, UK).

Also a quick thank-you to the Plex Team for appearing in this thread: even if it was still throwing errors when Chuck originally posted, it’s always a relief to know that someone is working on it.

It appears to be working now, EXCEPT I need to remove the show and then re-add it to get the metadata. Hitting ā€œrefresh metadataā€ does not work.

Try refreshing by series, instead of an individual episode. Worked for me.
