Microsoft Edge preventing access to server login

I have very recently found that when I start up my Plex server on my Windows 11 pc using Edge, it shows a indicator stating that my connection to this site isn’t secure. I then can’t login to my Plex account as it says that “Plex is not reachable”
I have unsuccessfully tried to find a way of unblocking the site.
Does anyone have any idea how I can overcome this issue please?
If so I would appreciate it not being put in technical terms so that I can understand what I need to do better.

Are you saying that the same doesn’t happen if you use Google Chrome instead?

Please make a screenshot of the error message, and tell if you are shown a choice of actions. And if the latter, which did select?

I installed google chrome about 15 minutes ago and tried that but it immediately states Plex is not reachable.
At least on edge I can see everything on my server, it just won’t allow me to login to my account.
Previously the login always happened automatically when I ran Plex.

Immediately after doing what precisely?

I ran Chrome and then copy and pasted the site address showing on edge and it then said not available

Please post this exact site address here.

Are you using a 3rd-party firewall software on this computer?

Have you ever knowingly modified the hosts file?

Are there any browser add-ins active in Chrome which are not in Edge?

Is the Plex icon present in your Windows task tray, and does it remain there when you move your mouse pointer over it?

I am not using any 3rd party firewall software. I am using AVG internet security but have been using that for years without a problem
No I haven’t modified the hosts file.
I haven’t used chrome before so there wouldn’t be any add-ins.
The Plex icon comes up under the ^ hidden icons symbol and doesn’t move.

This is a 3rd-party firewall.

Disable it and try again.

Still the same result

Unless shutting it down didn’t actually disable it.

This is a possibility. You may need to deinstall it without a trace to be sure.
Or find a way in its settings which allow you to run a “server”-type of software on this computer.

Firewall and anti virus software is often configured by default in such a way, to prevent things like servers of any kind from running correctly. Because from the perspective of the firewall maker, these could possibly being active without the knowledge of the computer’s owner, to host malware or infect other computers on the same network etc.

I will be uninstalling it in the next week or so anyway but then replacing it with antivirus software from a different source however, It doesn’t make any sense that the AVG software would be causing a problem all of a sudden after many years.

It does very much so.
Anti virus and firewall software has to be updated all the time via automatic updates. Otherwise it would become ineffective within days after the initial installation. One such automated update could be very well the reason for your troubles.

Side note: in terms of firewall and anti virus software, for a regular computer user, there is no need to use anything else than what already comes with Windows by default.

Are you saying that windows has all the anti virus protection that I need?

Yes, it does. At least all Windows versions that are currently supported by Microsoft.

Ok. I might uninstall it then and see if that makes any difference. I will come back on in a few days if it doesn’t resolve the problem.
Thanks for your help.

Irrespective, the inability to login doesn’t appear to affect my ability to watch anything from the server on my TV.
Perhaps it may preclude me from remote access but I haven’t been able to do that for years now because I am running a second router from my modem/router although I did have a problem before adding that router anyway.
Are there any other implication of being unable to login on the server?

You must be able to login, because you are logged into your plex.tv user account right now. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to post in this here forum.

Please post a screenshot of the error message which gives you the impression that you cannot login.
