Migrating from Readynas to Synology

Server Version#: current version
Player Version#: current version
I’ll have to migrate my nas. As netgear seems to end it’s readynas series i’d like to migrate to synology. of course i cannot migrate the whole nas so i am looking for a way to move my plex server installation from readynas to synology.
My readynas is 424 and i want to move to synology 920+.
Both systems are linux based (?i guess). is it possible to do this? Maybe the paths will differ or something else could be missing?
Because i manually corrected some data of my media in plex i’d love to keep my installation. And also because i have 100000 pictures, audio files and movies it would take some time to rebuild the libraries.

I am aware of this blog entry:

But this does not discuss the differences between different nas types.

I have some skills with putty etc., so command line hacking should’nt be such a problem.

Kind regards and thank you for your answers!

Wow, amazing. Thank you, trumpy81. I feel welcome to synology immediatly.
yes, i can use ssh on the readynas.
One bonus question: On my readynas my plex server is located under /app/…

Is there any (settings) file in which i have to replace the server path, except the media paths you described obove?

Kind regards,
Andre

thanx, trumpy81, i’ll do so. My synology will arrive tomorrow. i did some hacks myself in the past, so i think i (hopefully) know what i’m doing.

kind regards.

yepp, i did so recently. Had to backup baikal server too for my caldav and carddav data.
All media files are stored at my silent media pc (win10) in the living room, too. So the nas is also a backup server. The Media files i frequently backup to the nas with powertoys. Because of this my media files are in place in the right directories on my desktop.

Everything seems to be ready for switching to synology.

Thanks again and btw: of course i wouldnt blame you if something goes wrong.

Very kind regards to the aussie

PS: sorry for my english, i’m german.
