I’m in the middle of migrating a large installation (about 150GB of Plex Metadata) and I’ve used the guide on how to move everything. It worked almost perfectly.
My question is i put in some good work on some collections i was building with some custom poster art and i’m wondering how to migrate that data? I’ve searched Reddit and these forums and i can’t seem to find it. Any help would be great
Thanks for the quick reply Otto. I’m still completing the migration so i guess i should just chill out and wait for it to finish.
I did use the same drive letter, folder, and file name. So I should be good. I just don’t see the custom collections yet and the tags are not showing up on the movies that have moved.
Alright, the migration is complete and none of the collection data copied over. I see the collection metadata that was copied over and copied over correctly, but it doesn’t seem to have transferred over to the collection field of the movies. Is there any way to correct this?
Not sure what you did here. If you migrated according to the linked HowTo, there would have been no need to “finish a migration”.
The crucial thing is to not run Plex Server before all media are copied over and are available at their original paths, under their original file names.
If you started plex server before that, and you also had ‘Update libraries automatically’ activated, then your media could have gotten removed from your database. And it was then added as-new when you later started the library update again. Which of course leads to all manually changed metadata getting reset.
