Server Version#: 1.21.1.3830
Player Version#: Roku 6.7.4.6764
I’m switching my Plex setup for security purposes. My old setup worked well:
Plex Server running on my Synology NAS, with all media files stored locally on the NAS itself.
I’m getting inconsistent results with the new setup:
Plex Server running on Nvidia Shield 2017, with the media files stored on the Synology NAS
In both cases, my primary Plex client is Roku, latest Plex version. On the new setup, some movies seem to run fine. Others seem to run poorly, if at all. American Pie loads to 13%, hangs there for maybe 10 seconds, then the Roku Plex app crashes and it exits to the Roku home screen. I find that American Pie runs OK when I use Plex on my android phone. It also runs fine in Roku when accessed from Plex Server on the NAS where the file is stored. It just doesn’t work when Plex Server is running on the Nvidia Shield and accessing the file on the NAS.
American Pie is a 672 MB mkv file.
The obvious suspect is network speed and/or latency, but I understand this to be a supported configuration.
Any ideas? Is there a best practices guide for this config?
