Miss Marple (1984) - Not matching as a series

I’m having trouble matching Miss Marple, the 1984-1992 TV series with Joan Hickson.

Running Plex Server 1.24.0.4930 on a Synology NAS, so I’m using the new Plex TV Series agent.

I’ve read the series naming documentation, plus some other threads in these forums. Here’s how I’m naming it, following its listing at tvdb:

  • TV Shows/Miss Marple (1984)/Season 01/Miss Marple (1984).s01e01.The Body In The Library.mkv
  • TV Shows/Miss Marple (1984)/Season 01/Miss Marple (1984).s01e02.The Body In The Library.mkv
  • TV Shows/Miss Marple (1984)/Season 01/Miss Marple (1984).s01e03.The Body In The Library.mkv
  • TV Shows/Miss Marple (1984)/Season 01/Miss Marple (1984).s01e04.The Moving Finger.mkv
  • TV Shows/Miss Marple (1984)/Season 01/Miss Marple (1984).s01e05.The Moving Finger.mkv

The problem is that the agent doesn’t want to recognise it as a series at all. It only ever matches to one of the series’ individual episodes, which I don’t want. When I try “Fix Match” all I can see are the individual episodes - no series level entry that I can see. “Plex TV Series” is the only Agent listed when I do a Fix Match. Is it possible to override this at a show level?

Multiple “Plex Dances” only change the individual episode to which the series is matched: usually either A Body in the Library or A Murder is Announced.

Your file naming doesn’t look too different to mine. Nevertheless, I’ve renamed my files to match yours exactly:

But I still have the same problem. It matches to the episode A Murder Is Announced rather to the series. (Yes, I’ve done the Plex Dance, yet again.)

I’m wondering if it’s how my agents setting at the server level? I’m not sure what’s supposed to be set there. Some of my settings there are greyed out and can’t be changed anyway.

Bingo!

It was something in the library settings. I think it’s the Episode Ordering drop-down, which I had set to The Movie Database for some reason. Changing that to TV DB caused Plex to pick up Miss Marple series correctly.
