"MISSING DETAILS: Pardon our dust. This item is lacking a details page."

Server Version#: 1.32.4.7195
Player Version#: Web 4.108.0

A few days ago I was out for a drive with a playlist shuffling via Plexamp and a song came on that I hadn’t heard in a long while. I noticed on the display that the artist was listed as “Unknown” despite me knowing that the song was tagged properly and the album folder and song were following the oft-linked-by-moderators naming conventions that Plex prefers.

When I returned home, I checked the artist page via Plex Web to make sure it wasn’t a PlexAmp bug and that the album was listed where it should be. It wasn’t. I checked in the “Unknown” folder and the album wasn’t there either. I double checked the files to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be. It was. I even did the freakin’ Plex dance, which solved nothing.

Next step? Re-scan my music library.

Nothing.

I re-tagged the files and changed title case on one word, just in case.

As Plex re-scanned my library a second time, I noticed that the server was processing the album and the songs. I clicked on one of song titles from the Alert page and got the “MISSING DETAILS: Pardon our dust. This item is lacking a details page.” error. Clicking other titles yielded the same result.

I re-checked the artist page and that “Unknown” artist page and still nothing.

It can’t be a case of the release not being in the MusicBrainz database because 1) it is, albeit with a longer title, 2) there are several releases by the same artist that aren’t in the MusicBrainz database that DO show up in my library, and C) I have one release from this same artist in my library with a shorter name than what is in the MusicBrainz database and it still shows up in my library.

Why is Plex like this?

bumping this post up.

IIRC, that error page always shows up when you try to click into any track from the alerts list. Plex doesn’t actually have a page for individual tracks, so it fails trying to find one.

It’s happened for as long as I can remember; unrelated to your matching issue.
