Today I decided to try to the new plex agent. I updated one of my folders through plex as suggested in their help section. I noticed that a bunch of movies suddenly disappeared from the Plex app in that section. I went back tot he legacy agent and they reappeared. I made a new movie section and added the same folders and noticed certain films from a certain folder sources are not showing up at all.
Both movie sections have the same source folders, however, with the NEW plex agent they aren’t showing up at all.
does anyone have any idea what’s going on here with the missing content?

The screenshots make it hard to identify the actual gaps. Some of the gaps seem to be related to collections – you had created some manually in your original setup but disabled them for the new library.
This explains why there’s no Alien, Blade Runner, The Avengers, Beauty and the Beast or Captain America collection items.
For some others I cannot rule out they’re simply showing somewhere else (e.g. because you had assigned a sort title before) – e.g. if you listed “Avengers: Endgame” as “Marvel’s The Avengers: Endgame”.
Not sure about “Ad Astra” and “Apocalypse Now” and “Black Hawk Down”.
If you want somebody to look into your logs:
open the General server settings and set the log level to Debug (not Verbose!!)
create a new dummy library, link it to the same folders and assign the new movie agent
Thank you for your reply. One section shows 102 items and the other 35. Sorry, I thought it was obvious for example Ad Astra was missing. Along with many others. I didn’t realize that the screen shot would be confusing. Sorry.
If I dont use the legacy agent then its just ignoring my source folders. All the videos in a certain folder are being ignored, but only by the new agent.
root drive, Movies-movies 4k- Ad Astra (2019)-4k.

If i add another source folder from same drive it populates. if i use the legacy server it populates. its just being ignored by the new plex movie agent. I am pretty sure my files are organized ok. I’ve been using plex for 10 years and never had this issue. I am confused. I just added other media and it works. just that one folder.
well…i just made a NEW folder and copied the files to it. and lo’and’behold…its populating now. i dont know what that is about. has anyone heard of this?
If you want to fix this you should add the folders: ‘movies 4k’, ‘movies 1080p’, … individually as a source folder for your library because I think the agent thinks that the folder ‘movies 4k’ is the movie folder for the first movie he detects in that library. And so he will only add that movie
Another option is to add a folder for all the movies you have and don’t use the stand-alone format (I use this option for my files because so I’m sure that there can’t be any confusion and you don’t have to add all the source folders individually).
I am not sure what you mean. All my 4k movies on that drive are in one single “movie 4k” folder.
It still doesnt make sense that one agent is recognizing the folder and the other isn’t though. So all 32 movies in that folder are being ignored. The folder itself seems to be ignored. I dont mind recognizing i am doing something wrong, but i dont see how my folder structure is creating the problem here.
I’ve just checked your logs. It seems Plex is not even seeing those files (Ad Astra, Apocalypse Now…). That’s odd because you said scanning the same folders with the old agent was able to add them (and I suppose they’re still accessible / playable in that old library)?!?
Your logs also show tons of errors (mostly on networking) – but none of those seem to be involved/happening while you scanned those files.
I can play them in the legacy agents section. that works.
I made an entirely new folder for the movies. that worked. I dont know why the new plex movie agent was ignoring the original folder. Very confused.
Networking errors? should i be concerned about those errors? The hard drives containing the media are plugged directly into the mac mini hosting my PMS.
Creating a new folder and copying the media into that has solved the issue. Again its not happening with all folders. Even different media folders on the same drive are being recognized. it was just some specific folder that plex seemed to ignore.
