Missing Posters

Within the last few days, hundreds of random movies across several drives are now showing blank movie posters (as in nothing there… just a dark grey poster). These are movies that have had their posters showing fine for years now. This has never happened before and I have no idea why it just started happening. I’m having to manually edit each poster and select a different one for anything to appear. Several of the posters appear fine when I go to “edit” but when I try to save the poster it still shows as blank. What gives? Why did this just start happening? I don’t want to have to manually find each movie missing a poster because I have around 7000 movies in my library.

Have you tried the option to Refresh All Metadata?

I have several times to no avail

Bump. This problem is a deal breaker for me as far as Plex goes if this persists. I really need some help fixing this. I’ve been using Plex for almost 6 years now and am a lifetime plex pass member but this is making me want to pull my hair out and try out Kodi.

Have you checked the order of the agents for the movies? I have just had the same problem - the only movies left alone were ones where I had changed from the default poster. I found that local data was being placed above the movie database. Switched them (back? I assume this was changed in the last update) and I’m currently running refresh metadata and watching the posters flip back around from a default framegrab image.

Weird. The Movie Database was already at the top of my agents but just for the heck of it I reordered it and then moved it back to the top and viola it’s back to normal. Not sure if this was a bug or what but boy was it frustrating.

Thanks for getting me tinkering with the agents! Hopefully it stays fixed

I’m seeing this problem (no movie posters, incomplete metadata on TV shows) on a brand new Synology DS218+ running latest DSM and Plex 1.14.0.5470-9d51fdfaa. I’m ALSO running a Windows server and it’s NOT having any issues with the same PMS version. I have tried ALL the suggestions above including deleting all the files under /Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches as noted in other threads.
This problem along with the horrible ‘new’ Roku client (see: Plex for Roku 6.1.1 update ) has me reall*y SOURED on Plex. Have wasted a ton of time (yes, Time has Mass – ask Einstein) trying to get things working.

UPDATE: Tried Version 1.13.4.5271 of PMS on Synology (available under their Packages) – SAME PROBLEM!!

UPDATE2: Working like a CHAMP, now!! Another thread said there was a problem with the plex.tv server.

I’m having the same issue myself now

How do I go about making sure mine are rearranged correctly as I have cleared my cache

and gone through the regular DB Restore ill call it and the same thing is occurring I recently updated to a Beta version and this happened?

Ive noticed all movies and everything have no Summary or metadata and have the Originally Available date as 1900-01-01 ???

The only ‘solution’ I found is to periodically refresh metadata (it’s a choice on the … menu) as the plex.tv server is the ‘problem’ – not being up or responding poorly.

Same problem here, built a new PC, moved over the HDD from the old machine, and plex is not displaying posters. Can anyone suggest a solution?

UPDATE: Actually, not getting any movie information. I had everything on the old PC. I am sad!
