Missing TV Shows

Chuck, you weren’t kidding about the renaming tool. I downloaded one then spent a few minutes figuring out how to get into the media files. I spent 6 hrs hand fixing half of my tv shows and under 30 mins fixing the rest with the renaming tool. I feel like an idiot for wasting the first 6 hours…haha.
Now I’m currently waiting on Plex to catch up to all the changes to make sure they all load. So far so good.

Plus side: My Tv Shows are back
Down Side: I spent a lot of time getting the episode names put in the first time they were added and now I have to redo them because it’s never shows automatically even with those search engines selected. Guess I’ll save that for a rainy day.

Thanks for the Help!

I use Sonarr for all my OTA.
I learned the hard way, like you, naming it right the first time is quintessential.

Since Sonarr names it perfectly, I transferred that same format into my renaming tool for all TV series I rip from bluray.

Plex never misses on anything I add - AND - it’s quick

Plex should show the episode names, can you provide some details on what episodes are not getting named?

You should also check your media files for embedded title tags!

And if so, ether edit your files and remove them, or switch off Prefer local Metadata on your library

I second ChucPa on the use of Sonrarr. It’s a slight overkill for library management but it is also pretty darn fool proof in renaming and, importing (moving) files and shows to their right place, plus its real neat UI for looking at the library of Your show and movies (etc)

You can find some good info and how-to here: TRaSH Guides

All of my shows are like this:

The episodes names aren’t showing but it identifies Episode 1-xx. Since I started using Plex I’ve just manually typed them in as they were being added. Now I have to do that again unless those of you who know more than me knows how to fix it?

You would have to walk me through that because your talking over my head. If its any changes that need to be done through my server, I can check it when I get home from work.

And if it was, you might have to do a Plex Dance on the shows with the bad episode titles

Thanks Dane, I unchecked the box then refreshed the Metadata on my TV shows and they started updating with the Episode names now. It’s still scanning through but looks like that worked.

Any idea on how to turn this off now?

It just keeps running like it’s stuck. I had to do a force stop on Plex through the server last night when it was doing it for a different show. It started up again as seen in photo. Not sure why. It was like that when I logged in to get the screen shots earlier.

You have set your library to detect introes during updates

you can skip that for individual libraries here:

And global settings, where you also can set it to only do it during scheduled nightly jobs here:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/skip-content/

I unchecked Enable Intro Detection, re-scanned the library and it’s still going. I even tried refreshing the metadata for that show and it’s still going. It still says the same thing as shown in previous picture which is why I said it’s acting like it’s stuck there.

Did you restart PMS

And what’s the global settings set to?

I can try restarting when I get back home.

as for Global, 2. Go to Settings > Server > Library <— that doesn’t work as a pathway. I’m trying to find what they are talking about on the article you sent.

  1. Select Server
  2. Click on Library

The constantly running Intro finally stopped, thank god.

Global is set ‘as scheduled task and when media added’

Set it to scheduled task only if you need introes
