Earlier this month I finally updated my PMS and some MKV files will no longer play. I running Ubuntu 18.04 server LTS.
The devices I am having trouble with are my Sony Smart TV, Chromecast, and LG Smart TV. Works on all of my mobile devices, and through all web browsers.
The error I get is “Playback has stopped because the connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost. Please ensure the server is available and retry.”
Each of my devices are connected via ethernet, and I did not have that problem until I updated. From what I’ve seen online it looks like this issues pops up every few updates from Plex. Is my only option to wait until a new version is out and see if it works?
I think I may also be experiencing the same issue. With a recent update, the Plex App running on my Sony TV (Android) will fail with the “connection to the Plex Media Server has been lost” message. This only comes up when trying to play media, browsing works just fine.
Server version is 1.15.4.993 running on FreeNAS.
Force quitting the App on the my TV and relaunching it does not fix the problem, but If I restart the TV itself, that does seem to solve the problem, and I can watch whatever media again. After some period of time though, I’ll reopen the App and it will give the same error.
I can’t say that it’s only MKV files for me, but most of my media is MKV as well.
