Hi,
I’m having a strange Plex issue and would appreciate any help.
Setup
-
Plex Media Server running on macOS
-
Sony Android TV
-
Android/iPhone mobile app
-
TP-Link Deco network
-
Latest Plex Media Server installed (fresh install)
What works
-
Plex Media Server starts normally.
-
Server is claimed and linked to my Plex account.
-
I can access the server locally through:
-
http://127.0.0.1:32400/web on the Mac
-
http://192.168.68.52:32400/web from other devices
-
-
Movies and TV shows play correctly on the Mac.
-
Mobile browser can access Plex Web and play media.
-
TV browser can access Plex Web and browse the library.
What does NOT work
-
Plex mobile app shows the server as offline.
-
Plex Android TV app shows the server as unavailable/offline.
-
TV browser can browse the library, but playback may fail depending on the browser.
-
Remote Access frequently switches between available and unavailable.
Troubleshooting already performed
-
Completely removed old Plex server.
-
Created a brand new server.
-
Reclaimed server.
-
Removed old server entries.
-
Reinstalled Plex Media Server.
-
Reinstalled Plex Android TV app.
-
Cleared cache and app data.
-
Rebooted Mac, router, TV and mobile devices.
-
Verified Plex listens on port 32400.
-
Verified localhost access through:
curl http://127.0.0.1:32400/identity -
UPnP enabled.
-
Port forwarding tested and later removed during troubleshooting.
-
Server appears healthy and green in Plex Web.
Current situation
The server clearly works locally and can stream media through Plex Web, but Plex apps (Android TV and mobile) still think the server is offline.
Could this be:
-
a Plex account/server registration issue?
-
stale server references in Plex cloud services?
-
Android TV client bug?
-
secure connection issue?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
