I’m looking to use my mobile device to control Plex on my PC. Here is why:
If I actually stream it to my phone, and then cast to the TV Chromecast it frequently stops, is choppy and usually doesn’t work at all. I assume it’s because it can’t keep up with simultaneously streaming from my PC to the mobile and then casting it to Chromecast but that’s just a guess.
If I play from PC casting directly to TV Chromecast it works great but the only mobile controls are from Google Home which is pause, play.
A few times it has shown the actual plex controls from my notifications bar where I can skip ahead or back 30 seconds, pause, play, skip episode etc, does everything I need to. Why have I only seen this drop down twice? Every other time, it just shows the google home in my notifications bar and that’s the only way to control Plex on mobile.
Somewhat unrelated, I have read that Plex companion is an option to use as a remote but I can’t even seem to find out what that is. Is that an app? Is that a premium feature?
