Move PMS from WD PR2100 to WD PR4100

I currently have PMS installed on the PR2100. I ran out of space. So I bought the PR4100 for two extra drive bays. Now I am ready to move PMS over to the new PR4100.

I have seen the steps to move PMS to a new system. But I wasn’t sure if that is what I need. As my drives that contain all the data are being put in the new system. Do I still need to follow those steps? Or is it simpler than that?

I want to be sure I keep my “watched” status and the collections I have created. Do I need to find and copy files from the PR2100 that would not be on the hard drives?

I’m not an expert on the process but I would say it depends what redundancy ie: RAID setup you have and whether the new drives need to rebuild the array when you move to the PR4100.

If you’re lifting and shifting rather than rebuilding, the Plex Media Server will remain on your original HDD so there should be no need to do any copying across.
