Move to new computer, missing movie and TV posters

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2368 on Windows

I moved Plex to a new computer recently following the directions at https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/ and things seem to be okay except that movie and tv show posters are missing.

I’m sure the media is named correctly as they worked properly on the old machine (also a Windows server) and the movie description and actor pictures are displaying for both - everything appears to be there for items in the library except the poster.

Select the pencil on an item and selecting poster displays many blank options to choose from, one being a what I assume is a random video capture but none are the actual poster.

I have reinstalled Plex several times, cleaned bundled and then optimized the database, even reinstalled Plex letting it create a brand new cache folder to start “clean” with.

I have tried different settings under ADVANCED for each library where the agents are configured so I might have ended up with settings that don’t work. For movies, I have Plex Movie Scanner selected for the Scanner and Plex Movie for the agent.

Under config | Agents | movies I have personal media selected and can’t seem to be able to select another one as when I change it and come back to the page, it has personal media selected.

I have changed permissions on the cache directly allowing anyone to modify it just case it was a permission problem. I have installed and am running PLEX as the administrator of the machine.

So if anyone has any suggestions, I’ve hit the virtual wall on what to try next. I’m not opposed to starting over (loosing play history basically - even though I’ve tried that before) as long as I can get the posters back and working.

I’ve been working on this issue for about five days and new items added to the library are added correctly except for the movie / show poster doesn’t display either.

Thank you so much for any assistance with this.

one thing that I have noticed that might be interesting is that in the log when refreshing metadata, it’s making a request to local host (Completed: [127.0.0.1:56749] 200 GET /library/metadata/1357/tree (18 live) GZIP 1ms 922 bytes) which I assume is seeing what’s already in the cache, but I don’t see any requests going outside the local server even though I might be over looking them.

Hi, I am having the same issue. I moved my Plex MetaData Folder because it was too large for the C: Drive. I have copied it to another Drive, a local one not a NAS one. All seems ok but I am unable to get posters for any new movies. Also, I have just started to loose some posters on old movies. I have tried deleting the Plug In Cache and Data Folders, I have rebooted loads of times. Deleted and re added the movies that I can’t get posters for. I don’t know what to do now. The Data is correct all of the actors, synopsis are there just no posters. Competely at a loss. Can you please advise.

Cheers.

Have you guys looked into the permissions for the folder you restored? They may still have the permissions from the old install.

What ended up solving my problem was I had the metadata folder on a drive created with drive pool (which is a great product - wonderful support) and drive pool doesn’t support hard links. So, moving the Plex metadata folder to a standard drive solved my problem.
