I’ve been adding a lot of movies lately and six days ago my Plex stopped finding new posters. This happened about 3 months ago for like 2 days, then magically fixed itself after countless hours of trying things on my own and browsing the forum.
So it seems to being pulling information for metadata somewhere because I am not providing any, however, none of it has any posters. All of my older files have posters. I don’t recall what Scanner or Agent I was previously using. It is now set on Scanner: Plex Movie Scanner and Agent: The Movie Database.
I’m running the binhex-plexpass docker in Unraid Version 6.6.6 and the latest binhex-plexpass docker.
I’m really not sure what to do. I’m still pretty new to Plex and Unraid. I saw people mention to clear all of the cache, but I don’t know how to find that or clear/delete it. I unfortunately need step by step instructions and I haven’t been able to find that.
@chazzerb just incase this helps here is a link to how to clear up the caches on your plex server. Its possible stopping the server, deleting the current cache, restarting and refreshing the metadata may fix the problem.
I figured it out. There must have been an update that reset my movie poster preferences. I am currently using:
Scanner: Plex Movie Scanner
Agent: Plex Movie
Cast Source: IMDb
Ratings Source: Rotten Tomatoes
Plot Summary: IMDb
Then I refreshed the Metadata for those movies and they all updated. I hope this will help someone in the future. If not I’m sure after the next update I’ll be back looking for the correct settings again.
I’m running on Ubuntu 18.04 and I’ve tried clearing my caches and switching the Agent and it still won’t pull posters. Other metadata comes in alright but no posters or backgrounds. I am seeing an error in my logs: Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28
For what it’s worth, my WD PR4100 NAS is experiencing the same thing. Seems to be a bug since an update or a service is down or changed/broke an endpoint.
Anyone else still have this? My server started doing it recently, and has updated since it happened without being resolved. Side note, the Actor thumbnails also do not come down. TV Shows work great still. I have gone through several threads and have tried several solutions to no avail. Any idea ?
just noticed this being a non -windows server on the original post. This is a windows server.
Just wondering - did you try deleting the plugin cache, that usually sorts problems like this out for me ?
However - actor thumbnails become a little bit of a mess with plex if you use multiple sources across your libraries. For example, if you use TheTVDB for your TV Shows and TheMovieDatabase for your Movies then the thumbnails start to conflict with each other and some end up displaying blank. I created a thread on this a while ago but never got a conclusion and I just look at it as a limitation -> Weirdness with TV Casts Thumbnails
What I ended up doing was switching the agent for my TV Shows library to use TheMovieDatabase so I would not get this blank thumbnail problem.
Did you check your movie poster preferences? I know mine would change randomly after updates and that’s when they’d get messed up. It’s happened to me 3 times now. Not sure what’s causing it, but changing preferences worked for me. Some of the default preferences didn’t work some kind of worked. This sounds similar to what’s happening with you.
