Moved to Synology, can't see the new server

Hello,

I was running Plex Server under Ubuntu VM, worked quite well. Then the whole VM installation got corrupted (better don’t ask why) and I decided to start from scratch: installed Plex Packaged onto my Synology, opened it in web, logged in with my Plex-Pass.

Now, my account somehow still tries to access the old VM hostname. It’s of course not online anymore and won’t be. All I need is to see the new installation, when I open the plex Web-App.

Please, where happens this relation account-server? I expected that installing a new instance of the server would start from zero, but:

  • I still see the Web-App tries to contact my old server hostname
  • I don’t see any “Server” settings in the Web-App, only the “General” and “Player” ones

I’ve also tried to set the old hostname to the new Synology IP-Address - but that didn’t help, although I can enter now that old hostname into my browser and the Web-Player Plex is opened (from the new Synology Plex-Package installation).

When this works, I will try to restore the original state from the broken VM, but that’s another step, following when this vanilla Plex installation starts to response.

Thank you,
Andrej

I don’t see any “Plex/Library” folder on my Synology in the FileStation: should it be there? TBH I was wondering why Plex didn’t ask anything after the installation, I thought it would ask about a folder or something or at least it would get visible in the FileStation, but nothing is there.

I’ve checked from SSH as well and couldn’t find any “Application Support” nor “Plex Media Server” folders :-o.

UPD1: Ah, it’s hidden, now I see it, never mind ;-)! I’ll test it like you’ve described and let you know, thx

UPD2: It did not help :frowning: - exactly the same as it was before, nothing changed…

Yes, Plex runs, yes, the folder is already visible and the config file deleted.
No, nothing changed ;-(.

Settings yes, but not for the server - that section is missing, I see only “No soup for you” and the account + Web-Player settings; that “Server” section is not there.

That setting is not there.

Question, before I remove the old server from the device-list: I want later recover my old installation, may be recreate the VM once again (i.e. not under Synology anymore) - will removing the old VM in this moment allow me later to re-add that recovered VM again?

I have a big library which I want to recover - I’m not sure in this moment, if I want it to run on the Synology (am trying out in this moment) or if I want in under the Proxmox VM KVM; the Proxmox crashed ugly and so I wanted to give it a try on Synology, not moving/recovering my old metadata from the crashed VM in this moment.

=> Is it safe to “reset” and “delete” and “remove” all the stuff from my Plex account and still be able to recover later the old VM?

Thank you very much, I’ll try it soon, now I must leave, have a nice evening and greetz from Swiss :)!
