Movie editions without split

Hello,

So I recently updated some movies with “editions” to replace existing movies and Plex created them as new content. Which makes them appear as new movies, I do not want this behaviour.

Is there a way to prevent the split on a library for “editions”, rather than changing the file names to remove the edition tag. I’d like to keep the edition tags, I just don’t want them to appear as new content.

At this time, editions are treated as separate entities in your library. There’s a feature suggestion to group editions as a single movie entry in a library (e.g. listing the different editions on the movie details page)

Possibility to hide editions from grid

It seems that there are two preferred ways of dealing with editions. Those who consider an edition as something independent and those who would like to have the editions combined. Currently, with the newly implemented feature of editions, there is only the first option. Here I wish that at least the general possibility to deactivate this and to combine editions into one is made possible. You could create a collection for the two different versions of the movie and manage them that way.

Thats irritating. There are feature requests going back 10+ years, so my fath is low if there is no means for it now. Looks like I need to mess around with renaming file names now, which isn’t very user friendly. Wonderful.
