Okay just now did it and waiting on the scan.

FYI my Amazon fire tablet which has PLEX but PLEX from the Google Play Store not Amazon Store which I rarely use had no issues like Amazon Firestick. Also noticed on the Tablet No alphabet on the side for Movies to jump to the next letter. Or did I miss that ?

The alphabet only appears when

  • you are on the Library tab
  • you are sorting the library by Title

Well it fixed the Japanese ! But now I have dupe movie posters one with no year and one with it. Also noticed the number of movies I have just show the count anymore

Set “Minimum automatic collection size” either to “Disabled” or to something larger than 1

Bada BING ! Thank you for the tips its a HOME RUN ! Movies are now correct ! Past few weeks been going through them one by one on PLEX correct poster errors and dupes. All gone.

Not really a newbie since I had my Library with Windows Media Center to XBMC to KODI . PLEX is powerful but the automation is a lot to be desired. Many people from all walks of life with different setups come here. Maybe a Wizard on the setup process asking the simplest question like is your library already scraped with nfo’s and poster/fanart etc etc giving choices to scrap what is already working and options from the start. Wasn’t a big fan of the PLEX Dance LOL

In the end I would still do it all over again bitching all the way home !
PLEX is the best method for sharing my library to my other homes and family members.

So was it something I did with PLEX to change it to Japanese ? Or was that a PLEX issue ?

You have either activated “use original titles” (which is not enabled by default)
or your library was instructed to prefer embedded meta tags in your files. (also not the default)

Oh one thing in setting up PLEX when you hover over options it has no window popup telling what that features does. “use original titles” Sound like what the name and year of my movie folder and movies it self. Pretty sure 99% of my Movie are American made with some British. I already had a 18 year old library which was correct because I imported each myself using different media scanners and since Ember Media Manager. So I thought the embedded Meta would come from the nfo’s.

P.S. Not often but some of your scans using PLEX PASS gave me Trailers in Foreign language . To English Movies Weird …

And I made the mistake to use PLEX Optimized Video feature thinking it was go to change setting on streaming COME to find out it Doubled the size of Movie folders by adding another Video File of the same movie,

I’m not sure what you mean here.

Even if that may be the case, the activation of “use original titles” and then sorting “by Title” has bubbled up all those which are not.
Take a look at the right letter index in your first screen shot above. You will see that it begins with Chinese characters. These come from the original titles of all those Japanese or Hong Kong movies (Anime, Jackie Chan movies, or “Mothra” monster movies are predominantly not American nor British.)

Plex doesn’t use .nfo files. The only exception from this, it extracts the IMDb ID (if present) to help match the movie. Anything else in .nfos is ignored.
