Movie missing from Plex database

While browsing the new actors hub tonight I discovered a strange issue with a specific movie.

The classic horror movie Candyman (1992) doesn’t seem to exist at all for Plex.

I have this movie in my local movie library. It’s correctly matched and I see all the relevant actors on the movie’s page. But if I click on one of the actors, it’s like the movie doesn’t exist at all. It doesn’t appear under the “Movies & Shows in Media Libraries” section, and if I look in the filmography of any of the actors the 1992 Candyman movie is just not there.

And I can’t find the movie in https://watch.plex.tv/.

It’s like if for Plex this movie doesn’t exist at all.

But the 2021 reboot of the same name does exist, though.

How is it possible?

Try refreshing the metadata. It sounds to me like your movie might need to be “rematched”, which is what refreshing the metadata. A few months back (year?) Plex updated all the movies’ ID’s, and a library refresh was needed in order to re-match the movie against the modern database ID. If it doesn’t match, then it doesn’t think that the actors in YOUR version of the movie are the same actors that are in other movies.

Yeah, I tried refreshing the metadata. Everything is good and it’s still matched.

What I find weird is that the movie doesn’t even appear on the https://watch.plex.tv/ website or under the filmography of any of the actors.

It really is like the movie doesn’t exist for Plex.

This happens now and again with different movies

Being that it has the same exact title of the 2021 version I can see how it might have gotten overlooked

This happens when media is unrated, but maybe also when it’s 18A or R (just guessing)?

Is there a proper way to report the movie so it can be fixed?

@BigWheel, how can we report movies like this one that need to be fixed so they aren’t missing anymore?

This is the only way to make reports of any kind unless you have a billing issue

That movie is rated R afaict. not sure why it is not showing up. will let folks know
