Movie name instead of filename and local subtitles

Running Plex as a package on my Synology DS1019+ version 1.16.0.1226
Server Version#: 1.16.0.1226
Player Version#: n.a.

In the agents settings, for example for Plex Movie I can either set Local Media Assets on top or OpenSubtitles.org. In both cases I will have them both enabled.

What happens is that if I have Local Media Assets on top then the subtitles that are in the folder with the movie will work. I can select them. (Sometimes the added subtitles work while the opensubtitles ones are not available or are not ok)
The problem is, when I have Local Media Assets on top then the name of the movie is sometimes the filename of the movie instead of the actual movie name. That is really annoying.

If I set OpenSubtitles on top then the names are all ok but the local subtitles are not available. (I can’t select them)

How can I get both local subtitles to work (preferably together with the ones of OpenSubtitles) and also have the actual movie names as found with the scrapers?

This is caused by embedded ‘Title’ meta tags in your files. (Only in mp4 / m4v files)
Remove them. (On Windows, you can use for instance mp3tag to do it. )

Yes, thank you! I can use mp3tag to easily find all the files that have the title tags filled in. The mp3tag app is a little slow to edit them though (it copies the complete file which is slow over my current wifi) so I use windows explorer to go to the properties of the file and remove the title. This is relatively fast and works. :slightly_smiling_face:

Would be nice if there is a automated way in synology or plex but for now this is good enough. (I only have a few files with the title tag)
