This problem occurs mainly in Plex Movies. It used to be that when you had a correctly named subtitle file next to your movie file it would show up in the Plex player. No more. Nowadays, you have to open the movie file in the Plex player and upload the sub to the movie file in the player. The problem is they don’t always sync up when you stream to your TV. For example, the subs will be synced when I play them in the player on my iMac but out of sync when I stream them to my TV. Is there any way to go back to the old way of the subfiles showing up when they’re right next to actual movie file on my server/computer?
do you have Local Media Assets
enabled for the Plex Movie agent? (see Settings > Server > Agents > Movies > Plex Movie
)
like he says make sure local media assets is enabled.
I just made a test library with Plex Movie and it seems to work fine
Yes! I had never dealt with Local Media Assets before, so I never would have figured this out. Also don’t know how or why it was unchecked but ticking that box seems to have solved the problem. Thanks to all for the quick reply and fix. Love this community.
if you have not suggest moving it below Plex Movie like in my screenshot. will prevent it grabbing embedded title in files which ripping software often sticks in there.
