Movie ;picture' and summary switched for movies with identical names

I have two movies named Serenity.
Each has its distinctive ‘picture’ and short summary.
For some reason the two are ‘switched’ – each has the ‘picture’ and summary of the other.

How do I sort out or force the selection of the correct information for each of these movies?

Does PLEX care about the duplicate name?

Plex does care bout duplicate names but in this case, if this is the “Serenity” you speak of,

  1. Serenity (2005)/Serenity (2005).ext
  2. Serenity (2019)/Serenity (2019).ext

At this point, they are already unique.
PMS will match individually and maintain as such.
Have you included the year and made certain there is no embedded metadata confusing the matching?

Thank you for taking the time to respond – much appreciated.

I had not used the year as an identifier in the directory or the .mp4 file name. This morning I am going to change those items I can identify.

Is there anything I need to do to ‘refresh’ the associated data in PLEX??

If the “mismatch” is maintained after renaming the files, you need to perform the Plex Dance

Serenity (2005) could also be added as a Special episode to the tv show ‘Firefly’, if you happen to have it on your server.

/ TV Shows
   / Firefly (2002)
      / Specials
         Firefly - s00e01 - Serenity.ext

Thanks to both of you for your help.

The PLEX dance is now starting to make some sense relative to the underlying database.
