I’m having some issues with Plex registering movies as other movies with similar names.
E.G. 101 Dalmatians (1961) and 101 Dalmatians (1996), 54 and Studio 54.
It would appear that I have 5 such instances in my collection of 1986 movies, but 1981 are listed in the Plex library. I have no duplicates, have tried the “plex dance”, and created a whole new PMS install on my Synology 416Play to test which has the same issue as my normal Nvidia Shield PMS.
Below is part of the scanner log from the new test Synology install to show the point with 101 Dalmatians (YYYY), both versions are filed under 101 Dalmatians, but the 1961 version isn’t available in Plex. Only the 1996 version shows.
This isn’t the case for all similar/same named movies, as most are generated as duplicates and can be split apart. The example animated 1961 101 Dalmatians is simply missing.
All videos are the same format (h.265, AC3 in an MKV container). The AVC level obviously changes as the libraries used for encoding changed over the years. So basically all movies can be considered as encoded the same.
Any ideas gratefully accepted?
