Movie Posters do not update, Posters show Media screenshot

Hi,

I have Plex Version 1.21.1.3830 on Raspberry Pi 4 on Public Channel, Movies do not show the poster.

Have the Agents as below:

Are those movies actually matched or is it only the posters that are missing?

Thank you for your response.

can you please mention what does “movies actually matched” mean?

Movie posters are missing. The movie thumbnails / grid display on Plex only shows some screenshot from the media.

When Plex is adding a video to a movie-type library, it’ll analyze the file to see what it contains (e.g. what audio / subtitle streams, the video’s resolution etc.). In addition Plex will attempt to identify the movie against an online repository. If it successfully establishes a match, it’ll start downloading additional metadata – this is usually the official title, some descriptions, information about cast and crew… and posters.

There’s 2 simple ways to double-check if a movie has been “matched”:

  • If you click on the ... context menu of a movie you’ll find a menu item Match or Fix Match. If the video has been matched, you have the option to fix that match (Fix Match). Otherwise Plex offers the option to manually match the video instead (Match).
  • You can filter your library by Unmatched items (and see if that particular movie is showing

No match = no poster, no descriptions…

Exception:
If your library has Local Media Assets enabled (e.g. local artwork) and a poster stored alongside your movie, Plex can also pick that up (even without a match).
Based on your screenshot, you have disabled that option.

When I try to do the match,

I get this

and this when I choose “The Movie database”

can you please suggest what I would need to fix the poster issue.

When performing a (Fix) Match… click the Search Options link.
There you can verify the search term Plex picked up from your file name (title and year) and set the an alternative agent (default is the agent used by this library) and language of the metadata to be downloaded.

If you have a particular movie and cannot get a match you can also enter the IMDb ID (in combination with the Plex Movie agent) or TMDb ID (in combination with The Movie Database agent).
