I think Upgrade - currently there is no choice on the library and definitely did not change the agent but used the option from the Edit (whether upgrade or convert)
If youāre using the new Movie scanner & agent, then on the Library settings, Advanced, youāre looking for this:
Prefer local metadata is your enemy, unless youāve been completely obsessive about tags.
If you uncheck that and Refresh Metadata for the individual items, that might be enough.
If that doesnāt do it, you may need to Plex Dance those files. Are you familiar with that?
Iām not sure if thatās a bug or a feature intended to keep you from changing things while a scan is active.
You can still edit Library settings - and see the Advanced options - if you do it via Settings ā Manage ā Library.
(Probably donāt want to change them while things are active, though.)
Yes familiar with the Plex Dance - havenāt had to do it in years though ![]()
Strange as it might I was correct is Plex Movie Scanner / Plex Movie.
This was the default setting for a new library as the only thing I tend to look for is removing the prefer local media exactly due to past problems.
By the way there is no Plex Movie choice as a scanner so it appears that Nvidia Shield did not yet get the new scanner implemented.
Iām double checking now. Maybe Iām the insane one.
You are not - on the Windows 10 server is exactly as you stated Plex Movie Scanner goes with Plex Movie (Legacy) and Plex Movie goes with Plex Movie. Thatās the only possible combination.
Itās the shield that is acting funny
OK - I verified that my upgraded libraries, as well as a newly created one, are using āPlex Movieā:āPlex Movieā.
And that āPlex Movie Scannerā is the old one.
Phew - thought I might have been giving you wrong advice.
Plex rarely releases different features on different platforms. What version of PMS are you using?
The latest official is what I was using.
Now I have just signed up to the beta program (as I want to check if I will hate the UX) and it is āDownload Pendingā.
I think I am on 8.5.2.20133 (which should be the beta)
And now āUpgrade Matchingā has appeared
I was confused ⦠that doesnāt look like a Plex Media Server version at all ⦠OHHHH SHIELD.
Fingers crossed for you!
Is it that bad?
Was hoping to replace my windows server + roku with just the shield but your comment does not make me feel that is a wise call (the pc has had itās time and needs to be moved to pastureā¦)
(admittedly is only while waiting to replace my ancient nas with a synology 1520+)
No donāt read anything into it. I didnāt recognize the version number is all. I donāt have a bunch of experience with a Shield as a server, but thatās neutral, not positive or negative.
Iām curious if matching/metadata works for you after the upgrade.
The perfect number of bays for home media. Especially with built-in M.2 slots.
Will come back and update - currently bed time for me so see you tomorrow and thank you
So the issue with the file names resolved itself by updating to the latest beta version and rescanning the metadata so ![]()
Actually it is terrible as a server - it having only 16gb storage (12gb usable) make it atrocious and do not plan to have a portable hd always attached. Will try to add a USB 3.1 stick but it is bad.
As player I actually like it better than the Roku but only because (a) chromcasting is useful and (b) subtitles are handled better.
As above for movies yet - for TV shows some season just do not want to match properly nor recognize the tvdb code nor -if eventually they match- update themselves with the information. Though this could be due to the Shield not having space (see above comment)
Yes I currently have a 5 bay and it has been good - the M.2 slots might not be as useful as given the lack of the 10gbe they do not significantly upgrade performance (but still).
