Movie will not scan in

This is a first for me. Found a movie on my system that for some strange reason Plex put 2 different movies under one title. So I spit them apart and Plex can’t find it. The original shows up the second one with different year is not so I removed and rescanned it with tmm I even add the Imdb number still not showing up.
DNA (1997) did not work so added the imdb which I hope this is the correct way.
DNA (1997) {imdb-tt0118912} was wondering if anyone else has this trouble? with this title?

And before I get jumped I have over 8000 scanned in titles with no troubles done by me from KODI using tmm so I know the nfo file does not work but I also have the DNA (1997) {imdb-tt0118912}-mediainfo.xml.

The only other time I experienced problem was a TV show movie which this is not.

In this case you still need the old Plex Dance to make Plex forget the wrong match.
I tested DNA (1996) {imdb-tt0118912} and got instant metadata.
(IMDb says the year is 1996, so you might want to correct that.)

NO Dance! Did that once before! Still regret the mess it made of my library tweaks. I even cleaned the library and moved the movie to another Drive and it still didn’t show up

What do you mean fix 1996 that is the year on the site. The release date of 1997 is not in the description.

Plex is the one ignoring the protocol and have added the imdb-tt0118912 to the file is there answer to correct mismatched movies. Which I still laugh at since thats title and year is what GOOGLE comes up with so why is it so dumb not to see that.

The year at watch.plex.tv and IMDB is 1996, the original release date. TMDB lists it as 1997, when it was released in the US.

Suggest you use 1996, as that is how Plex has it in their database (watch.plex.tv).

You can try placing it in a test movie library by itself to see if Plex correctly recognizes the file.

  1. Remove the file from the current library.
  2. Scan the library, empty trash, clean bundles, to remove the info from the Plex database.
  3. Create a separate, test movie library.
  4. Place just the file itself in the library - no .nfo, .xml, etc. files.
  5. Scan the library and see if Plex correctly identifies the file.

Example:

/movie-test
../DNA (1996) {imdb-tt0118912}
..../DNA (1996) {imdb-tt0118912}.mkv

YEP! After removing everything out of the folder and just add the VIDEO back in the SCANNED in perfect! That worked!
