I have a concert movie in two parts. I can’t combine them because they have two different audio codecs and GUITookNix won’t allow me to append one file to the other. I would like to see one file on plex media server but have the folder contain two files. Plex forums say that I need to have one folder for the movie and then have two seperate folders within that folder for each part, and to label them with the designation of “pt1” and “pt2”. I have named them per the instructions on file format on movies with multiple parts, but no matter what I do, they show up on Plex as two different movies. What am I doing wrong? How do I get the desired result of one folder that contains two parts, but where I see one cover art for this film on Plex Media Server?
The pt1, pt2 … thing only works, if all files have the same file extension (mp4, mov, avi, mkv, to mention a few possibilities).
Could that be your problem?
I wish it was, but it is not. I have used exactly the same file extension and just added “- pt1” and "'pt2 " to each file. To sum up, the main file is Steve Winwood In Concert(2011)(folder)>Steve Winwood In Concert(2011) - pt1(folder)>Steve Winwood In Concert(2011) - pt1.mkv(file) and then the same for the part 2.
I probably misunderstood, but it should be one folder, with the two files under that
Steve Winwood In Concert (2011) [FOLDER]
… Steve Winwood In Concert (2011) - pt1.mkv [FILE]
… Steve Winwood In Concert (2011) - pt2.mkv [FILE]
I’m not super familiar with the multipart option, used it once or twice and then decided to re-encoded the files into one single format. My naming for the individual files might be off…
That worked! Thanks so much
