Question 1: Where can I find the server version number? There is no Help > About choice as with most software.
Question 2: I am new to Plex. I am converting movies on DVD that I recorded myself. A few long movies are spread across two DVDs. Until now, if I name the MP4 files created by Handbrake Title-1 and Title-2 Plex makes a single entry in the library followed by an icon that looks like two boxes. I have one case where Plex made two entries in the library named Title 1 and Title 2 for the two disks. Why did Plex not recognize these two files as a single movie as it did in all other cases? Thanks.
Keep in mind that when it does work, it plays the files back to back. It doesn’t combine them into one long file. So if you have two 30 minutes segments, it will show you are playing a 30 minute show until it gets to the end then it will immediately start playing the NEXT 30 minute segment. At no point will you see a single 60 minute show in PLEX.
Thanks FordGuy61. I renamed the two files for the third time using a completely different name and Plex then recognized them as two parts of a single movie. I also moved the multi-part movies into subfolders as recommended in Naming and Organizing Your Movie Files.
I would like to combine the multi-part movies into a single file but Joining Multi-Part Movies refers to a program named MKVtoolnixGUI. However, when I click the link in the article then click Downloads in the menu there is no way to download the software. There are links to checksum files but I did not see any link to the program file itself. I’ll try to do more research on that.
