Recently, I started removing some of my movies and replacing them with the same movie in 4k. However, every movie I have done this with now shows that there are two versions of that movie rather than one. When I start to play the movie, it asks which version I would like to play, but both are the same file and point to the same location. Any ideas?
Have you re-scanned your libraries and emptied the local trash bin on your machine/PC (not the plex ui)
I would:
- Empty Recycle bin or equivalent on PC where the files were deleted
- Restart Plex
- Re-Scan Libraries

Actually just found the solution and answered my own question, but I will post here in case anyone else runs into it. After removing the movie, you must first empty the trash to remove the old file’s information, then add the new file in. This will prevent the issue of it showing you having two copies of the same movie.
If that doesn’t work delete and re-add the library when you are finished with your house cleaning.
