Maybe someone can help me with this issue that I’m experience since 2 or 3 weeks ago.
Every time I watch a new movie or tv-show, the video stops every 15 or 20 mins of play.
I need to click immediately on “menu” button to go back and resume movie again… If I don’t do that, the movie image freezes but subtitles keeps showing. And when I resume movie again, the subtitle appears out of sync.
I don’t know whats happening because I never had this kind of issue in my 2 years of using.
Does anyone have any clue of what could be?
Apple TV 3
Model: A1469
Software: 7.2 (7512)
My PlexConnect settings:
PlexConnect Version: 0.5-dev
I have notice that the new version is 0.5-dev-101215
Do you think that the upgrade will help me?
Btw, what the steps that I need to do to upgrade to latest version?
Hope someone can help me, thank you guys and sorry for my poor English, is not my native language.
Not sure about the “movie gets stuck” issue.
For updating, either use the github app or just download a fresh ZIP and overwrite the existing files… Hm. Maybe backup those old files first, like certs and settings, to have them handy in case something goes wrong - they are not on github, so shouldn’t get overwritten, but you never know.
Edit: I don’t remember any big changes to the actual video player setup, so chances are slim that an update will fix your issues.
Thank you for your reply
I already updated to latest version, tonight when I see a new movie I will give you my feedback if the latest version fixed my issue.
About my settings, everything ok with them?
P.S. When I removed and added new profile in my ATV I notice that the option in General → Send Data to Apple was set to Yes, could be this a problem? I already changed to No.

That has no impact on the issue you are facing.
I had a similar issue to this at a hotel I was at where the ISP was intermittent. Every time it would disconnect the aTV would kick out of the movie and I would just go back in and resume it. I could see this issue also being caused by a intermittent network regardless if the aTV is using wifi or ethernet. When you notice the issue can you still surf the net on other devices? Any chance you have ISP or internal network issues? I guess the aTV could be going bad but that would be an extremely rare case.
Help…
Im trying to watch a movie but videos doesnt play… appears a message saying that content is not available.
What could be? I can access PlexConnect in my ATV and browse through movies… only when I select play appears that message.
First I thought that was only with movies with subtitles, I tried 3 movies without subtitles and worked fine. But I played one or two movies with subtitles without problems too. But 98% of my movies arent working…
Ok it seems that is not a PlexConnect problem… I tried to see a movie using my PMS in my computer and I have exactly same problem
I did an upgrade yesterday… probably have some issue…
I can shed some light on this maybe, I think I know what OP is talking about. It happens when you have a movie in your library with a high resolution, a 1080 mkv file source, which can sometimes be over 10gb in size. Your remote Plex client can’t keep up with the stream. It happens if you set your “remote quality” in Plex Settings Dashboard to over what your ISP bandwidth can handle- So I leave mine set at 4mbps/720. Plex optimizes the media to stream best according to your settings there. The highest I’ve set it was to 10mbps/1080 which was slightly too high for my connection. Other factors can limit your BW too, like your Router specs. I use an old Linksys WRT110, which is an N-Band router, but the best I can get is G-Band (54kbps).
When the movie stops, it is because the stream has hung up and it waiting to buffer. Normally, any media you play will buffer well ahead of the point you are watching, but in the case of a high res item, it uses more BW to push it through unless you set Plex to a lower Remote Quality.
The best thing to do if you have high res movies or TV shows, is to optimize the items in Plex, it’s a simple right click on the poster and select the “…” and you can see the optimization selection, I’ve done this to, like my Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films which are all 1080 and 10gb each. Also, the large file sizes are not due to the Video component so much, it’s usually the audio component, when I convert I drop the audio quality down a little and that brings the filesize to a more reasonable level for me. Hope this helps, but it’s not an issue with Plexconnect, it’s a standard Plex issue.
