I’m assuming this is user error, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to do this properly.
I have two Synology’s that store my files. One is more of my active system, the other is more of an archive. When the active system gets full I will manually move some of the less used files to the archive. From a plex perspective, the library has both the folder on the active system and the archive system.
In general what I’ll do is copy the files from the active system to the archive, and scan the library to see that it’s picked up on both sides. At this point, the home screen doesn’t make any indication of the files being moved. When you view the file info, it accurately shows both files. Now for the problem. When I finally remove the files from the active system, all of the files I’ve moved show up as new movies on the home screen. My hope was that by copying the files with a scan before deleting, Plex would realize that it’s the same movie just located in a different place and retain the fact that this is an old movie.
So the question is, how can I tell Plex to not reset the clock on these files as I archive them off?
