Hello, is there any way to move files between libraries within the PLEX web UI? The reason I ask is that I have a large amount of documentaries I would like to move to a dedicated library, and PLEX can easily filter them, however they cannot seemingly be moved there within the UI. I could move the files manually in the filesystem but this would take a very long time.

And yes I am aware that you can filter on the client by “Documentary”, but you cannot filter by “Movie” so although I can clearly see only my documentaries, I cannot see only my movies, without using a sub-genre.

I’m surprised there is no option to move files, or simple drag & drop between libraries. Would make life so much easier!

Alternatively could anyone suggest a way to automate this? I’m using a docker stack on Ubuntu server running PLEX container (all latest versions), with various clients such as Roku, iPhone, iPad, LG. I looked at Radarr but I can’t see an option for sorting by metadata.

Perhaps this is more a feature request (“Movie” filter and ability to move files)…

Plex has no file management capability, other than deleting files in specific instances.

You can use the Advanced Filters and filter on “is” or “is not” “Documentary.”
