OK - I’ve done this tons of times before. I know to copy files first, let Plex see the dupe, then purge the old file.
That doesn’t work for movies anymore. Plex always sees a “new” movie. I end up with two movies in my library, same posters, same everything, two different locations. Plex does NOT recognize that the file coming in is a copy.
This can happen if you changed the default agent for your library but didn’t do a full metadata refresh. The original video could still be linked to the old agent while the copy is matched using the current agent… this way Plex won’t actually recognize them as duplicates.
Yes, that was exactly it. I didn’t change the agent - I wonder if at some point an upgrade changed it? ANyway, after a full metadata refresh, I just tested and it’s working again. Thanks!!
