Moving media from one disk to another

I want to move my TV library from one volume on my PC (which runs the server) to another - when I have done this in the past it has lost my watch history so I’ve lost track of which episodes I am up to, as well as where specific episodes have stopped as well.

What is the best way to manage this move? Is it as simple as the following:

  1. Stop the media server running;
  2. Cut and paste the folders between the volumes;
  3. Restart the media server;
  4. Remove the old TV library path;
  5. Add the new path where it will (hopefully) they realise they’re the same media and restore the watched/unwatched metadata and have things be as they were before starting the process.

I’ve done a check through the FAQ’s and haven’t been able to find anything on this topic.

Any thoughts or advice appreciated!
