I reinstalled my Monterrey OS on my Mac on a new boot drive and reinstalled Plex server as well. Previously Plex found all my mp4 movie files in my local Movie folder and I could watch them no problem. Now it is only finding mkv’s.
I’ve checked permissions and a number of other suggestions I’ve found online but still no luck.
We need logs an/or you provide exact files names of some of the ones that are not being matched. The server does not care if something is an MP4 or an MKV. Only difference in an MP4 is that they can have embedded metadata that can be used in which case they can display as something unexpected.
It’s all Mp4’s and I have a lot of them. Only 41 files are being seen out of hundreds approx.

I tried moving all the files to a different directory. That made no difference. Initially though, before I did that I tried renaming several files and I got a message saying I couldn’t rename the file with special characters in the title. The new names were just plain text.

BigWheel was referring at the full set of server logs (click link for instructions on how to obtain those; preferably download the logs through the web app and attach the entire zip file).
yeah sorry I forgot to give you link for how to get server logs. That bit in your screenshot is not related to scanning in files.

yes, I just found that one. I examined the folder a little more closely. I noticed that all the mp4’s that aren’t showing in Plex have “icloud synchronization file” listed for their file type instead of Mp4. I assume I need to change those somehow?
yeah you would need to fix that. I wish i could give you advice on how. Though i am a long time Mac user I’ve never used anything icloud related.
I moved the files to another drive and they work fine. Thanks for your help.
