I'm not sure if this is a PMS or PlexConnect problem, but here it goes.

 

I have a 4-DVD music show and I've used Handbrake to produce 4x MP4 files (disk1/2/3/4). PMS indexes correctly as one single film with +/-8h, and PlexConnect shows a single film in the UI.

 

When disk1 terminates I have a certain "transition" to disk 2 (1-2 seconds), but the transition is automatic. This is OK (it's a music show, so no scenes are interrupted). But if I stop the play in the middle of disk2 and close the ATV (PlexConnect is left running on the Syno), in the next day PlexConnect restarts the play in disk 1. And this is a problem. Can it be solved ?

i would just remux the file into one big file. using something like subler or mp4tools or mkvtoolnix. remuxing is not rencoding so quality will remain the same

Stacked files work in PlexConnect if they are natively supported (it sounds like they are not full native files) but really it is much better to join them.

... he has a valid point there:

aTV communicates "watch timestamps" timing from the beginning of a file.

PMS needs those from the beginning of the movie/whole set.

This is an issue with PlexConnect's "stacked file support". I guess we need a ticket on github and a volunteer to fix that. :-)

Concatenating files is a circunvention, but as Baa says, the problem exists. I can volunteer to test, but my programming skills are not good enouh to patch the PlexConnect code.
