  • Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file:

There are several but they all have two things in common. Being stacked. And being played on ATV3. No problems on the web version of Plex. http://pastebin.com/VGgW9zuM

  • detailed description of the issue:

I have several movies that are stacked.  They use the proper file names (CD1 & CD2) and work perfectly on the web version of Plex.  They also show the correct times on the screen that follows the cover flow on ATV3.  They unfortunately do not advance to the second cd while playing. On the Audio/Subs menu, there are 2 "ac3" Audio tracks and 2 "srt" Subtitle tracks. Only one Subtitle track can be chosen at a time. Oddly, two Audio tracks can be chosen at the same time.

Also, I have force transcode on.

...stacked files are not yet implemented. see wiki/FAQ -> "Do stacked files work?"

Give him some credits, he supplied excelent info for troubleshooting if it was implemented

Baa, prioritize it :)

Yes, very needed feature! Would help with plugins too I bet.

It will be implemented, we are just nailing down what will be in 0.2 and 0.3 then will update the roadmap.

mmagidson: thanks for the great report! (is this enough for the "some credit"?)

davveh: why me? you know where the source code is...

:-D

Sorry for my late reply. I just got done unpacking after a move so I was a bit preoccupied.

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm glad you all appreciated my post's precision. I was just following the directions :-D

I completely missed the wiki on github for PlexConnect. I figured the wiki on the PlexApp site was relevant.  Thanks for letting me know!

Basically, I need the ability to do this because a lot of the foreign films I have from Asia are split into two files. I'm trying to update my library little by little. As you probably know, a sudden halt occurring in the middle of a movie is painful!

Looking forward to the next version! Well done with what you have already accomplished.

  • Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file:

Before the HTTPS Fiasco, my Jon Stewart and Colbert TV Channels worked flawlessly (after the stacking update to PleCo :) ) Now, they don't advance to the next section.  Here is that: http://pastebin.com/3GnD9X6a

I was never able to get my movies to advance to the next section either.  They all work in Plex/Web though:

http://pastebin.com/NnDEp2kt <-This one is strange.  I can't get the English subtitles (.vob) to consistently work (even on PlexWeb). Sometimes Korean subs show instead.

  • detailed description of the issue:

The channels are Updated and I only had this problem with them when the HTTPs fiasco happened as I mentioned earlier.

Also, I have several movies that are stacked.  They use the proper file names (CD1 & CD2) and work perfectly on the web version of Plex (except for the .vob subbed one that doesn't consistently show the English subs).  They also show the correct times on the screen that follows the cover flow on ATV3.  They unfortunately do not advance to the second cd while playing. On the Audio/Subs menu, there is 1 "ac3" Audio track and 1 "srt" Subtitle tracks correctly shown for stacking (for the .vob it is English (VOBSUB)).

I have PleCo force transcode as True and direct play as False.

Colbert is still working for me, stacked files and all. I am having a problem playing Stewart videos in general. I can’t even see the videos in the full episode category.

Update. Stewart isn’t working on iOS either.

What PMS, Python and ATV firmware versions are you using?

PMS is 0.9.7.28,
Python 2.7.2 (default, Oct 11 2012, 20:14:37)
ATV is 5.3 (6103)

Stewart JUST stopped working for me as well. When I say just, when I changed the log detail to Normal from High. I get a "not working at this time" sort of error.

I realized that stacking does not work with Transcode on (after finding: // Use loadMoreAssets callback for playlists - if not transcoding!) <_<

I also realized I needed to update Python to 2.7.5.  After doing that and turning off transcode, both the Daily Show and Colbert Report work 100%.

The stacking of movies still does not work. It wants to work (the small preview that appears in the lower left hand corner appears, but it doesn't advance.

50% solved, though!

Today i try to rename the files as follow:

-avatar.avi

-avatar2.avi

and finally apple tv read the 2 files, not together but at least read them separated...  :D  :D  :D

Plex advised to rename the files with extensions CD 1 and CD 2, but the stacking of movies does't work.....

They should...

well, depending on the format. aTV native files work, PMS transcoder is not able to handle stacked media.

I use plex on apple tv... today i try to use Plex on Maverick and read the stacked media...

The strange thing is that if you try to open this files plex read only one:

- Basilicata coast to coast

- Basilicata coas to coast2

while if you rename as follow, plex open it:

- Basilicata

- Basilicata2

.......

They should...

the client does need to add support, basically it needs to request the 2nd part at the right time - no idea how you would do that given you hand control over to iOS but...

The best bet as always with this is to just join the files - fixes so many issues.

Trudge... don't say that. :-(

See XML attached.

Without transcoding needs - that is natively played media - we request all those MediaContainer/Video/Media/Part files separately. iOS btw. our enhancements to atv.player in application.js can deal with those.

When we need the transcoder taking care of the file, we provide the MediaContainer/Video/key to PMS - as Elan explained. But then there is no way to specify a "Part" to be transcoded, is there?

Which brings me back to my original point: Handling stacked media with transcoding needs has to be done within PMS/transcoder - at least this is my current understanding.
