I have the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy in my Plex server. For some reason the first movie (Fellowship of the Ring) will not “stack” like the other two and it shows 2 posters in the movie gallery. I have tried renaming over and over again. I even copied the filename of one of the other movies, pasted it into the FOTR filename and edited it and it just will not stack.
Right now the filenames are:
The Lord of the Rings-The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) - Part1.m4v
The Lord of the Rings-The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) - Part2.m4v
Put them in 1 folder called The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) (Extended Edition)
Also name then as
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) (Extended Edition) - part1.m4v
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) (Extended Edition) - part2.m4v
Probably want to name them correctly while you’re at it:
https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/120-the-lord-of-the-rings-the-fellowship-of-the-ring
The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Extended Edition] - Part1.m4v
The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Extended Edition] - Part2.m4v
(extra stuff not contained in the ‘real name’ should go into [Brackets] so Plex will ignore it)
…and to head off potential problems with MP4/M4V files you should move Local Media Assets to the bottom of every Agent list in Movies and TV Shows (all tabs) here:
Bogus embedded Titles in MP4/M4V files will bork a match unless you instruct Plex to stop giving those Bogus Titles tip-top priority - even over a perfectly named file (that you are currently not using).
When you get this all set up and working then find out how poorly Plex deals with stacked items you may want to just join them together into one file (that’s what most of us do):
Takes about a minute (a LOT quicker than all this has been - that’s certain).
