Is anyone experiencing problems with those kind of files … For instance, I have this movie :
-Remains of the Day (1993)
----Remains of the Day (1993) - part1.mkv
----Remains of the Day (1993) - part1.fre.idx
----Remains of the Day (1993) - part1.fre.sub
----Remains of the Day (1993) - part2.mkv
----Remains of the Day (1993) - part2.fre.idx
----Remains of the Day (1993) - part2.fre.sub
It works ok at first but when it gets to the second part, subtitles don’t show up anymore …
Is it a known bug or did I do something wrong ?
I'm also having an issue. I cannot get Lord of the Rings to play when I select subtitles. They are the extended editions so there are two parts, one for each disc. If I just have one of the parts in my plex library, it will play the subtitles, but not when I have both parts in the library. I'm going to try to remux the subtitles one more time to see if that works.
I tried re-ripping. So I'm not sure if it's a bug in the media server software or a setting I need to tweak along the way. Regardless, Plex Media Server won't seem to play multi-part movies with subtitles selected. It just hangs forever. It will play the individual files when the other is not present. Perhaps that is the workaround. Treat the files as two different versions and make sure they are split apart within Plex. Kind of a kluge work-around, but what are you gonna do?
I've since tried merging the two mkv's into a single mkv file. The result is a pretty large file (7.2GB for 720P quality). Doesn't seem to skip around very easily, but seems like it might play through all the way.
I know this is an older thread, but I’ve noticed the same problem and wanted to check in to see if there’s a fix I’m missing out on. To be clear, the problem is this: on a multi-part movie with external sub-titles, the subtitles only show on the first part/file.
