Plex 1.32.6.7521-24e4dff81 (current as of today), Synology 1621+, Roku
I’ve run into this problem before but this is the first time I’ve posted on it. When watching a ripped multi-part opera which has subtitles, the transition from part 1 to part 2 works fine, but once part 2 starts up the subtitles are no longer displayed. The only solution I have been able to find for this is to delete part 1 and rename part 2 by removing the “-part2” portion of the file name. Once I do that and Plex has a moment to update itself, part 2 plays fine with subtitles.
But that’s kind of a pain. Could you guys look into this and see if you can replicate the problem?
I understand that you do not offer support by email, but I am not getting an answer here. Could someone please look into this?
Again, the issue is that, for a multi-part video with subtitles with parts designated by -part1, -part2, etc., the subtitles stop displaying after part1. Thanks.
Thanks for your response. I’ll try that next time. I don’t think it even occurred to me to think about that, given that the playback was continuous. The subtitles just seemed to go off.
Anyway yours is a much better work around than what I was doing, which was deleting part one so that part two would show up properly. Thanks.
When adding multi-part files to my library, I often do this.
Name both files almost the same like so:
A Night At The Opera (1990).mp4
A Night At The Opera (1990) 2.mp4
Plex will most likely group these two together as multi-part videos. You then look for the file in your library, click on the ellipsis (three dots) and select Split Apart.
Then edit and rename the Title of one of the files, E.G. A Night At The Opera - Part 2, so you know which is which.
Plex should not recombine the files, but if it does, then you can Split Apart again.
