[Bug] Playback Error - There was an unexpected error - Multi-part Files

Can PM logs.

During playback of a multi-part file the playback error is thrown while trying to access settings for the second part of the movie or TV show.

I.e. -

Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers Ext (2002).part1.mp4
Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers Ext (2002).part2.mp4

In part one settings work fine, but not in part two.

@chrishoage This error does not occur on PMP; as far as I can tell, only in Plex Web. I am using a Chrome based browser.

I am unable to reproduce any issue with playing multi-part files.

I have PMd you the logs. This is in Vivaldi (a chromium based browser).

Edit: This issue also occurs in Microsoft Edge.

I have now checked in Edge, Chrome, and Vivaldi… same issue in all three browsers.

I am testing it on a couple multi-part movies, as well as a multi-part TV show.

In Google Chrome if you open the Javascript Console do you see any Javascript Error when this occurs? Unfortunately the logs didn’t reveal anything to help me diagnose the issue.

(as mentioned I’m having trouble reproducing it here on my end. I have multi-part files that play though fine on Web 3.85.2)

Do you have sidecar subs for this media? For example do you have a single .srt with both part1 and part2?

Do you experience this error only when you open the video player settings?

@chrishoage I have sidecar subs for each part… for example:

Lord of the Rings - Return of the King.part1.mp4
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King.part1.en.srt
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King.part2.mp4
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King.part2.en.srt

I tried a single .srt and it does not work. It stops using the subs after part 1 is complete. In PMP it plays the subs correctly, and I am able to access settings. The error occurs about 90% of the time.

This crash only occurs when opening video player settings on part 2 of a multi-part show.

Thanks, I have tracked down where the bug is and filed an internal issue.

In the mean time the only (rather unfortunate) solution is to remove the subs until we can get this fixed. I have no ETA on when this will be.
