I also spent too long troubleshooting this issue, until i finally turned to Google and the plex forums. This should be big and bold up front. A good audio experience can make a good movie a great movie. Not supporting surround sound is a no go. I was so excited, and now i'm so let down. It just flabergasted me to learn digital surround wasn't supported. I don't mind if the server has to transcode the audio to something else. I really hope they figure a solution out to this issue.
