I’m not sure if anything changed recently in PMS or Plex Web, but I followed your trick to configure both devices at the same time in separate tabs, and both DVRs show in the settings, with each the ability to add devices, and update configuration.

Is there a way to do this now, or is it still a missing feature? I want to use Plex’ EPG for local channels (via a HDHomerun connect) and a custom XMLTV EPG for a few IPTV channels (via xTeVe). Seems like such an obvious feature.

I can’t edit my previous comment, but just wanted to mention that this workaround still works well:

I’m using this hack to use my HDHomerun + Plex’s built-in EPG along with an IPTV service (via XTeVe) + their EPG.

There’s just a few minor glitches:

  • The “Activity” page in Plex settings sometimes doesn’t properly show what’s being watched - It says the person is watching some random movie, not that they’re watching TV
  • The “Live TV and DVR” option can’t be renamed, so you end up with two options with that name.

Works great apart from that, though.

I tried this workaround, but every time, it says “The device is in use with an existing DVR”. I have a HDHomerun Connect DUO.

For this to work, you first have to delete any and all tuners from PMS. Once that is done, then close out all your browsers. Open up new set of browsers (or sets of tabs), each one with a new PMS browser (or tab) using IP address to your server. Then in each browser (or tab) click “add device” for each on of your tuners don’t go any further until you do that for each tuner you want to add. Once you get to that point where each tab has a add tuner wizard running, then you can complete each one.

Note: This only works if you have multiple physical tuner boxes, not a tuner with multiple built in tuners. Or better way of putting it each tuner has to have it’s own individual IP address.

In my case I found that after entering the xTeVe URL, Plex was automatically changing it to the URL of my HDHomerun. When setting up the tuners, make sure it shows the correct channel listing both times.

…Hello all, is there any news regarding multiple EPG Sources ?

I’ll try with an dongle usb TNT and xteve aggregator… No success …

Sorry for my poor english.

Regards.

No, unfortunately no updates on Plex for this :pensive:

Know this is old, but helpful that you can move the pinned LiveTV and DVR up and down - that way at least positionally you know what tuner each one is instead of playing the guessing game on which LiveTV and DVR is for which tuner.

Your suggestions have been very helpful!

I hope the developers do come up with a more formal solution soon though!

Unfortunately, when a show is on both EPGs, the DVR has a guessing game on which tuner to use (sometimes even using 1 from each)…

Actually you can tell the DVR what TV station to use when recording a show, that is how I ensure that shows I record use my best tuners for that purpose, and same my other tuners.

It doesn’t always follow the specified “limit to channel”.
Even sometimes it uses a source that’s not even in that dropdown list.

Just going to jump on this and say I would also love the ability to have multiple guides. I have one Tuner hooked up to Cable and one hooked up to my antenna. I hate that they both have to share the same guide.

Lifetime member here…wrestling with this issue right now. I have both cable and OTA tuners. If I setup the cable tuner as primary there are lots of local sub channels that I cannot map. If I make the OTA tuner as primary there are lots of cable channels that I cannot map. Having the option of different EPGs for each DVR device seems fairly logical and would solve my problem.

Look for the work around. It isn’t perfect but might be better than what you are facing now.
