I’m in the exact same situation as you are mlm27, HDHomeRun and channels from 2 markets. I have been researching how to set up zap2xml for my guide. It pulls in all the stations I get from just one zip code area. I just wish they would get the one on Plex set up and working properly for us. I really don’t want another program to keep updated. We need some more votes on this.
+1 please add this feature. Just found out you couldn’t add two epg to plex
Another vote.
That would make it quite a few (#123 is this one) on this alone. I am using two tuners to receive three markets (two are LOS to each other).
+1 for this feature! i also have an HDHomeRun tunner and get channels from two markets.
I am in the same situation in the Boston/Providence/Manchester Market. I would love plex to be able to handle multiple markets with an HDHomeRun.
I need this feature as well being in the Boston Area!
It would be really nice if Plex allows having different EPG sources. I cannot use my cable channel with the OTA
Just ran into this same issue, being stuck between 2 markets. Can choose between one or the other but no way to see both at same time? Is there a way to manually add channels, don’t mind doing the extra leg work, just would like a way.
Using Hauppauge QuadHD. Even having separate tuners doesn’t help in Plex.
Here is a link that you might be interested in trying. It us using Zap2xml for multiple program sources. Myself I just don’t have the time to play with it and I am really hoping that Plex gets this fixed. That was one of the main reasons I went with Plex Pass lifetime was the capability of recording my ota shows using HDHomerun tuner. If I can’t use the guide, I can’t even view the shows.
[How to use zap2xml for Plex EPG & combining multiple EPG sources]
There is a way to set up multiple EPGs using XMLTV. There is several tutorials already in this posting. You have to find a provider (free / paid) and to use the Windows tools to make it happen - but doesn’t work for those of us with a NAS. I have a PC that I use for the XMLTV that runs the updates daily. It works but it would be better if Plex could do it natively.
Hey @weidnerj, just wanted to say that it should in fact be possible to run on a NAS depending on your NAS provider. I’m the one that wrote the How to use zap2xml for Plex EPG & combining multiple EPG sources article, and i had this running on my QNAP NAS.
Since most NAS’s run linux, you’d have to install some package to add perl support, and you’d also need to figure out where the various paths are different than say Ubuntu, like i refference in my article…but with a bit of work, and maybe some googling it’s totally doable
Followed the zap2xml for Plex EPG guide and worked great.
Whats interesting is that zap2xml puts all the channels I need in one EPG from both markets(so didn’t need to combine), while whatever Plex was doing was forcing me to separate the 2 markets so could have 1 or the other but not both.
That’s great. I’m glad it worked out for you. I’m going to have to put some time aside to try to set it up. Right now Plex is useless to me without a guide.
As someone who just bought a Quattro tuner after setting up an antenna to get OTA channels, I can’t ask for this enough. I’m in-between 2 service areas 47403 and 47801 - I have spent hundreds on this equipment in order do be able to watch & record on Plex.
…only to discover I have to pick one or the other.
…only then to discover that if I had 2 separate tuners instead of 1, it still wouldn’t work.
I beg of you devs. This needs to be resolved, like yesterday.
+1 for this feature ! I really need it.
+1 very important for me
+1million! PLEASE Plex, listen to your users.
+1 here
Please, I would also love this feature. I currently have a HDHomerun Prime & Connect and would love to have them both connected to plex!
darcilicious,
Lack of this function should be made clear in the LiveTV-DVR config area in PS. Over multiple days I’ve wasted a great deal of time troubleshooting a feature that had existed in MS MCtr. In my area there is content from both OTA/cable that is not the same. Access to both when I own the tuners is needed.
