Multiple Libraries for a Single Media File

I’d really like to be able to have a single media file in a number of different libraries. For example, Comedy and Christmas film.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
N

If the file in question is by it self (in a separate folder) then yes.
Example could be… X:\MyAwesomeMovie\TheMovie.mkv
And give every library access to that folder.

Just to give more on the subject. I have a “kid movie” library and “adult movie” library. And I have a third library named “ALLMOVIES” that includes all folders from kids and adults.

Hi,
Yes I see, but this would require a very cumbersome library structure. I’d have to have thought though a minimal category and then add them to each new category type, or to have a massive number of libraries.
In another program I use I can create ‘folders’ with names and drag a file to any number of them, effectively making associations between files and categories. So, if I wanted to make a new group of 6 films which would be easy to access in the coming weeks I could do that without changing the underlying ‘main’ library structure. Do you see what I mean?
If it is of interest the software is Mendeley - its not a competitor to Plex, its for managing pdf’s, but there is enough similarity to be interesting.
I’m assuming there is no such functionality in Plex.

Don’t playlists do that?

Ah - I have never used this - but you may be right, thanks!
Nick

Applying several ‘Genre’ tags to your movies will achieve somthing very similar.
You can filter down your whole movie library to one or several genres.
Subsequently, you can turn these filters into a smart playlist if you like.
