multiple plex servers on same network doesn't work properly

I have to say its a ridiculous situation, I can’t understand the reason for all this complexity, and my two servers won’t work properly.

So initially I had server A ( a freenas install ) working fine and had been for years. The nas is on 192.168.0.4, with the PMS plugin running at 192.168.0.111:32400

I got a WD mypassport wireless pro, and as it had the ability to run plex server I thought it would be handy for travelling. So I installed PMS and that worked ok. 192.168.0.9:32400. Lets call this server B.

All was well, I could see two servers from my plex clients. Then a couple of weeks ago I had notification of an upgrade so I upgraded both the latest version of PMS and then my problems started.

I had to get the PMS’s to login to my plex account, done that, situation now is that while my clients can see both A and B, I cant administer A anymore - when I go to A’s IP address ( 192.168.0.111:32400 ) I see the B server !
If I go to B’s IP address 192.168.0.9:32400 then I see B correctly
So there’s now no way I can administer the A server - ridiculous !

So I turn off the B server, to try and get back to the original situation where I can see and administer A properly, but when I go to 192.168.0.111:32400 which is where the A server should be, the Plex web page says there’s no server - which is ridiculous because its running a plex web page from the server so of course its there !!!

I have no idea whats going on - simply that with any decent tech you should never end up in this daft position.
I’d really appreciate if anyone can throw me a bone here - I’ve spent hours and hours wasted on this stupid tech. The crazy thing is, it was fine before a very recent upgrade that looks like its being a bit too clever for its own good.
and before I’m criticised for not doing this or that, or generally being an idiot, I do run a 10 man s/w development team and if we put something like this out in the field I would kick every one of their sorry ■■■■■ until it got fixed - rant over !

You aren’t the first to report weird behavior with the newest version of server when you have more than one on the network. Logs will help figure out what’s going on.

Close both Plex Server applications, wait one minute, then start each one. Wait two minutes. Try to access each server via web client. After you verify that server one’s IP address takes you to server two, and vice versa, wait one minute, then close the Plex servers. Gather the logs and post them here so a ninja/dev can take a look.

I have several PMS running and no issues.
1 or 2 Win10 with 1.4.0.3173
2 Shield 1.3.3.3148
And a Synology and Drobo with 1.3.3.3148

If you have multiple PMS’s running, using Plex Web, it doesn’t matter what IP you enter, it will manage the server that you are connected to. Choosing the IP just tells it which WebHost will provide the UI for PlexWeb, not what it administers. Just like you can log into plex.tv and administer any of your servers. Instead of changing IP’s, just change the server from the drop down box.

So it’s possible to have multiple PMS on my network then? I need one on my PC to transcode very high bitrate movies and one on my NAS for the DVR and to watch TV shows.

This is a doable scenario?

Correct. Having multiple PMS is not an issue.

I have 10 servers on Windows NUC’s , windows Desktops, Drobo, Shield and Synology NAS that I have on at various times.
The drobo gets it’s media from itself , all the other get the media from the NAS.
Obviously all are not needed and the most I have had running is 5 but usually 2.
